Flower Pot Card

I have been working on making some flower pot cards for a long time now. I keep putting off! I got in the mood to make them on my rain day the other day....so here they are! One for my grandma and another for the lady that works for me. Both birthday cards, which happen to be the same day!

Being I needed these today, I wasn't able to put as much into them as I wanted to, but was happy to finally make them!!

This first one I used Cricut card George and Basic Shapes to cut out the leaves, centers and flowers.

1. Cut a sheet of cardstock 9" x 3 1/2". (Pot)

2. Score the piece of cardstock in landscape position at 2" and 5 1/2".

3. Fold the 2" score line in a mountain fold and the 5 1/2" score line in a valley fold.

4. Punch the edge of the 2" front flap with a border punch of your choice, I used EK Success "Dotted Wave".

5. To create the flower pot shape, place the carstock in your paper trimmer with the top 2" flap flipped up and the bottom flap folded behind.
Line up the 2" score line with the cutting track and the 5 1/2" fold line with the 1/2" mark on the trimmer.
Place the cutting guide over the card and cut.
Turn cardstock and repeat.

6. Adhere a 3" x 3 1/2" piece of patterned paper to the bottom front of the flower pot. Flip the flower pot over and trim away the excess paper from each side.

7. Tie ribbon around the top part of the flower pot to hold the pot together.
8. Adhere a 2 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock to a piece of 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of cardstock. This will be the insert piece with the flowers attached at the top.

9. Stamp your sentiment on the lower portion.
10. Cut flowers or use primas.

11. I used my cricut to cut out the leaves on the one flower pot card.

12. To help align the flowers to the top portion of the insert, place insert piece in flower pot first and then lay it on top of the envelope you are using. Then place flowers, you can use glue, brads or dimensionals to attach the flowers.

Have a wonderful Monday! Can't take credit for the idea of this card, as I got a tutorial on it from a friend!
